Home / News / The Hyundai E4U: Is Walking a Thing of the Past?

Hyundai has unleashed upon the world a personal-transport device that will surely prove to be the death knell to walking. Called the E4U for Egg, Evolution, Electricity, and Eco-friendliness, the rolling capsule weighs 176 pounds.

With its 500-watt motor being powered by a 24-volt battery, the E4U can carry a passenger at speeds close to 20 miles per hour. Those who say it demonstrated at the Seoul Motor Show say that it is the driver’s tilts and leans that control which way the open-capsule-shaped vehicle heads. The driver demonstrating the E4U said, “Without some practice, it does not move in the desired direction.”
