Despite the magic that Tesla Motors has been working, the fact remains that electric vehicles just cannot compare against any gas-powered beasts. However, the cream of the electric vehicle crop do indeed impress. These days, there are electric drag racing cars, the annual Pikes Peak climb has electric vehicle competitors, and next year there will be at least one electric vehicle in the famed 24 Hours of Le Mans: Nissan’s Zero Emission On Demand Racing Car.
According to Nissan, the ZEOD RC will boast a maximum speed 186 miles per hour and compete in Le Mans’ experimental vehicle class. To engineer the ZEOD RC, Nissan is evaluating a number of electric vehicle technologies that will also help the carmaker improve the electric cars that it makes to market.
