Ford Ecosport

There is a hot-selling Ford SUV that folks in the United States will have to endure their lives without. Ford cares not that the sadness in the land of the Red, White, and Blue grows from roots anchored deep within the nation’s purple plains.

Americans can not buy the Ford EcoSport, a green-friendly, gas-sipping SUV that is popular with those-in-the-know in markets around the world. Its diminutive size, 20 inches shorter than a Ford Escape, means that it can navigate roads and paths crowded with food peddlers, cattle, and motorized trikes. Moreover, it can park in spaces tight enough to make a Parisian blush. In China, 14,000 EcoSports have been sold between March and May of this year, which is about the same pace that it is moving in India. Industry observers are saying that the EcoSport is the vehicle that will finally give Ford a real presence on the subcontinent.

The EcoSport is proving to be so popular that Ford is upping its production. Currently made in China, India and some place called Brazil, the small SUV will soon be produced in Thailand and Russia as well. Ford will also start offering the fuel-efficient SUV in Europe this or next year.

Sadly though, there is no official plan to market to Ford EcoSport in Ford’s home nation anytime soon.
