Showing that it is more nimble and more willing to use its nimbleness than perhaps any other carmaker on the planet, Tesla has announced that it will bring an electric SUV to market in 2015.
First revealed in February 2012 as a concept car, the Model X SUV/Minivan will ride upon the present-day Model S chassis that may have been fitted with an additional, optional electric motor increasing the power of its four-wheel drive. Further separating it from the Tesla Model S sedan is its rear side doors, dubbed the “falcon wing,” and an additional row of adult-sized seats.
Full production of the Model X SUV/Minivan is scheduled to start in December 2014.
