Thank the heavens for GoPro video cameras, for a motorcyclist just outside of Hope, British Columbia, that’s in Canada, had such a camera mounted on his helmet when he crashed into a lanky, young black bear.
The driver was tooling through Fraser Valley on picturesque Highway 7 on June 30 when the bear darted across the highway. The video shows that the driver went from zero to 140 kilometers per hour in fewer than 20 seconds just before the bear bursts from the roadside underbrush after it had been frightened by a passing locomotive. Fortunately, the bear was unhurt, able to walk away.
The Mounties gave the driver a speeding ticket, which the driver said was simply unbearable. The bear refused to comment on the accident.
