Honda has taken the most-fuel-efficient, midsized-sedan crown with the release of its 2014 Accord Hybrid, which rates an EPA-certified 50 miles to the gallon in the city. Combined, it rates 47 mpg due to its highway rating of 45 mpg. However, since most folks do the bulk of their driving in city, it is the former number that matters.
Ford meanwhile is nursing its green wounds after having been forced to admit that its C-Max hybrid was not able to meet the fuel-efficiency ratings that had been promised dropping its combined rating from 47 mpg to 43 mpg.
