It is no secret that General Motors has long been trying to kick BMW and Mercedes Benz off their sporting-luxury-car-segment thrones with its Cadillac brand. However, as of yet, the American carmaker has only had limited success besting the best that the Germans offer.
Hope out of Detroit is that the 2014 Cadillac CTS sedan will prove to be a game changer, the game changer.
The newest CTS is 7 percent lighter than its last incarnation and is, in fact, 200 pounds less than the chubby BMW 528i thanks to the incorporation of cutting-edge alloys into its body and its bevy of components. Moreover, the 2014 CTS is one powerful, sleek beast being powered by a pair of new forced induction engines on either side of its V-6, that churn out 321 horses and 275 pound-feet of torque.
Finally, for its segment, its starting price is a humble $46,000.
