The Japanese and the Germans have joined forces once again as Nissan prepares for yet another attempt to set the record at Germany’s Nürburgring track.

The thought is that Nissan is going to hit the track, seen by many as being the spot to test the speed and handling of sports cars, with a 2013 GT-R, which has a redone 6-cylinder dual turbocharged engine and a retuned suspension to handle it. Some lips have whispered that the car has already run a seven minute 18 second lap, an eight-second improvement over the car’s 2009 run.

The unofficial Nürburgring track record is owned by the Dodge Viper ACR that has a time of seven minutes and 12 seconds.
