Toyota has confirmed that its TS040 LMP1 car should be ready to race this year. The all-wheel-drive V8 hybrid will compete in the 2014 FIA World Endurance Championship, which is considered by many to be the most exciting endurance race on the planet.
All of Toyota’s competitors in the 2014 FIA World Endurance Championship will also be sporting factory-entered LMP1 class cars fitted with hybrid powertrains. 2014 is a special year for this race with Porsche regaining the top spot in its class after being an also-run for more than 15 years.
The TS040 LMP1 car and Audi’s entry in the race shall both sport a generator/motor combo for front-wheel power. As is now commonplace, braking will generate for that cars’ generators.
