The time may finally be coming where robots are running society. OK that’s not really true, but this would be a pretty drastic step in that direction. In Nevada they are considering putting some autonomous semi tricks on the highways. I don’t know about you, but I might feel a little safer if they used something like a Ford Focus to test this out instead of a semi.
There are currently only two autonomous semis in existence, so the roads are not going to be flooded with driver-less vehicles any time soon. However just the thought of them trying this shows where technology may be taking us. There are currently four states that allow for autonomous vehicles on the roads and Nevada is one of them. Even though the truck will drive itself there will still need to be a driver on board and in case of an emergency, he can take over.
