The triangular Honda CR-Z just has not been the hit in the U.S. that it’s been in Japan. Though there are probably a number of reasons for this, probably the most glaring has been its lack of power.
Its puny engine made the sports-car-looking car no faster than the methodical Toyota Prius. Therefore, the Japanese automaker has revisited the CR-Z so that its 1.5-liter engine and electric motor are now able to churn out a combined 137 horsepower; a 13-horsepower increase over the 2012 model (um…yea?)
Honda has even gone so far as to add a super up Plus Sport button that releases a 10-second extra charge of electrical power when its battery still has at least 50% of its charge.
What do you guys think? Will 13-hp save this cool little hatch?
Pretty car that’s far too expensive for what it is. Sooo off the mark
Hi Nathan,
I think you’ve summed it up just fine.
Andrew
Honda gave us a CRX replacement that is slower than the CRX Si and gets worse mileage than the CRX Hf.
If they’d called it the Insight Sport Coupe (or just the Insight Coupe) fewer people would have drawn the CRX comparison and fewer people would have found the new car wanting.
As it is, the CRZ is the car that does nothing well.
Think the Insight Coupe idea would’ve been a better move for Honda.
