Mike Brucks, a traffic cop who estimates that he had written close to 40,000 traffic tickets during his 22 years as a law enforcement officer in the El Paso, TX, area, has spilled the beans. Speaking to Popular Mechanics, Brucks shares with the public his tips to avoiding traffic tickets.
According to Bruck, the best way to avoid getting a ticket is to not do those things that can cause an accident. Make sure you stick to the speed limit, are buckled up, and not using your smartphone. Bruck says that while some cops do ticket for expired plates in the such, a good number of cops focus on safety violations.
In addition to the above, some of the other things to avoid include making less-than-full stops at stop signs and running red rights.
Oh, and in case you are wondering, the fastest he ever clocked was the 189 mph produced by someone who zipped by on a crotch-rocket. Bruck did not give chase.
