will.i.am's vw bug

Bringing an (arguable) awesomeness to the auto world that he has (unarguably) not been able to bring to the music industry, Will.i.am has got himself one hell of a car.

Using nearly $1 million of his ill-gotten gains, Mr. i.am had his 1958 Volkswagen Beetle into a ride that looks like no other set of wheels on the road. With the windows of an old-timey coupe racer and the wheels and front end of something that might be designed in 2050, the revamped electric powder blue car is a vehicle that would both look at home and stand out in any era.

The transformation of the VW Bug began in The Garage in Stuart, FL. way back in 2009. Talking about the project, The Garage’s Austin Weiss said, “Will originally wanted a twin turbo Porsche flat six in the back.” However, less than two months into the project, he decided to aim for a car that would be “crazy futuristic.”

Mr. i.am’s band mates in the Wiggles have yet to comment on the car.
