Ah, luxury cars…the leather, the power, the wood trim and, let’s not forget the price tag! That can easily run into the $60,000 neighborhood. For those of us who need to be a little more discerning with our cash, finding the best used luxury cars under $15,000 might be a little more reasonable. To help you along, here is a short list of five cars that meet that price point. Each car on the list is highly ranked by J.D. Power and Associates and Consumer Reports for reliability and reasonable cost of ownership.

Audi A6 under $15,000

The Audi A6 is a very nice running car with a great number of amenities. It is also much more affordable than its big brother the A8. You can find a 2008 A6 with the base 3.2L V6 for around $13,500. If you prefer the 3.2L Quattro supercharged engine, the sticker will rise to $17,000. You can step down to a 2007 A6 Quattro and still meet our price point.

Cadillac DTS under $15,000

The full-sized Cadillac sedan offers all of the creature comforts that you could ask for. You can find a 2008 DTS with navigation, premium sound and wheels, with a powerful upgraded 4.6L V8 HO engine for $13,700.

BMW 750i under $15,000

BMW is synonymous with luxury and the top of the line is the 7 series. The 750i is the entry level 7 series sedan, but it offers an abundance of luxury features along with distinctive styling. You can find a 2006 750i with decently low mileage for $14,700.

Mercedes-Benz S-Class under $15,000

The S-class is the flagship line of Mercedes-Benz. The creature comforts abound in a car whose distinctive styling allows it to stand out in a crowded parking lot. You can find a 2006 S500 with around 100,000 miles for $13,700. If you want to move up to the 2006 S55 AMG with similar mileage, you will need to spend close to $16,000.

Lexus LS under $15,000

Lexus is well known for quality luxury cars that retain their value. The LS is no exception. In order to meet our price point you will need to look for a 2006 or older model. A 2006 LS 430 pushes our price goal by coming in at $14,900. A 2005 LS 430 runs around $13,000, but will most likely have at least 110,000 miles on it.

You have probably noticed the conspicuous absence of nameplates like Acura, Lincoln, and Jaguar. Each offers a wonderful luxury car, but falls short in either reliability or has a high cost of ownership.
