On top of the distinctive styling, the Juke is highly reviewed by owners and offers 32 mpg on the highway. You can find a 2012 Nissan Juke S for around $16,000, and you’ll have the added benefit of a peppy turbocharged engine that offers more grunt than you might expect.

Honda Civic

Honda CivicPowered by a responsive 1.8L VTEC engine that garners 36 mpg on the highway, the 2012 Honda Civic Coupe is a great looking car. Some critics have said that the 2012 Civic has a ”dated” looking interior, but sitting in one will convince that is not true. You can find a 2012 Honda Civic DX on most lots for around $13,500, and you can typically finance one of these for less than $200 a month.

Volkswagen Jetta

The Jetta is also known for its responsiveness and nimble handling. A base model 2012 Volkswagen Jetta is powered by a 2.0L engine that offers 29 mpg on the highway. It will come with a price in the $13,700 neighborhood. If you opt for the diesel TDI, the turbo-diesel will manage 42 mpg on the highway, but you would have to look for a 2011 model in order to keep the price tag under $18,000.

Hyundai Veloster

Hyundai VelosterNew for 2012, the Hyndai Veloster is a great look hatchback. The swept back body styling looks…well, sexy is the only metaphor that comes to mind. You can find a 2012 Hyundai Veloster priced right around $15,800. It will be powered by a 1.6L engine that is rated for 35 mpg on the highway. Luckily for driving enthusiasts, the smallish 1.6L is paired to a smooth shifting 6-speed manual transmission.

Scion tC

Scion tCScion makes several sharp looking vehicles, but the tC coupe has to be the sharpest. For 2012, the base model is powered by a responsive 2.5L coupled to a 6-speed automatic. The interior is comfortable and there are plenty of creature comforts included in the base trim. You can expect to pay $16,500 for a base model. For 2012, a Release 7.0 series was available. It features a much upgraded interior, larger wheels, and a premium sound system, but will raise the price tag to $18,000.
